Help Spread the Word- Boat Safely This Fourth Of July Weekend
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) needs your help spreading critical boating safety messaging across the state. We’re asking you, our partners, to assist in communicating this important safety reminder that life jackets save lives and it’s essential to operate watercraft sober.
So far in 2025, there have been five boating fatalities in Wisconsin, and two victims were confirmed not wearing life jackets. In 2024, there were 14 boating fatalities, 10 of which involved a victim not wearing a life jacket. Operator inexperience, inattention, recklessness and speeding are the four leading causes of tragic watercraft crashes, with the leading cause of death being drowning.
To make it easier for you to amplify this message to help protect your community, we’ve created a series of graphics, social media posts, images, b-roll footage and a draft news release that you can download and use in any communications you plan to issue on this topic.
If you’d prefer to amplify the DNR’s messaging or share from our Facebook and Instagram profiles rather than posting to your own social, that would also be helpful.
Thanks for spreading the word however you’re able and helping keep your constituents and communities safe!
